Penzión Horal is not an impersonal hotel complex. We are a family-run guest house situated on the quiet edge of the picturesque mountain village of Štôla. The owners personally oversee every aspect of the guest house, ensuring 100% room cleanliness and preparing all homemade meals. Our goal is for you to feel relaxed, safe, and truly at home during your stay in the High Tatras.
Thanks to our strategic central location in the Tatra region, you enjoy excellent access to all major mountain ranges and attractions – from the High, Low, and Belianske Tatras to the gorges of Slovak Paradise. At the same time, thanks to quick access to the D1 highway (the Mengusovce exit is just 4 km away) and main Tatra roads, you stay in the strategic heart of the entire region. All major attractions and hiking trails are literally a stone’s throw away:
- High Tatras within easy reach: Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec, or Tatranská Polianka (the starting point for Sliezsky dom) are just a 10 to 15-minute drive away. The Tatra Main Trail (Tatranská magistrála) and the most beautiful Tatra valleys are right on your doorstep.

1. Is it possible to stay with you without half board or with breakfast only?
No, all our stays are sold exclusively with full half board (a rich buffet breakfast and a hearty 3-course dinner). Our homemade cuisine is extremely popular with our guests, and we want you to enjoy maximum comfort during your holiday without worrying about cooking after a day in the mountains.
2. Do you cater to allergies or dietary restrictions (celiac disease, lactose-free diet)?
Yes! As part of our home-cooked cuisine, we can adapt both breakfast and dinner menus to your health restrictions or dietary preferences (vegetarianism, etc.) upon prior agreement. Please inform us of any allergies or diets in advance when making your reservation.
3. Do you accept employer recreation vouchers, and how does payment work?
Yes, upon departure, we will gladly issue a proper invoice with all necessary details for your employer’s recreation allowance reimbursement. Upon confirmation of your booking, a deposit is required via bank transfer, while the remaining balance is paid on-site in cash or by credit/debit card. The only local charge on-site is the municipal tourist tax (€1.00 / person / night).
4. What is your cancellation policy if I need to cancel my stay (e.g., due to illness)?
We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is as follows: Free cancellation is available up to 21 days prior to arrival. If canceled later, the deposit is forfeited; however, by mutual agreement, we can offer an alternative date within the same calendar year.
5. What are the check-in/check-out times and the minimum stay duration?
The standard minimum stay is 2 nights (subject to individual terms during holidays and festive periods). Check-in is available from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM (please inform us in advance if you plan to arrive later). On the day of departure, check-out is required by 10:00 AM.
6. Can I bring my dog on holiday, and what is the fee?
Yes, we are a fully dog-friendly guest house, and your four-legged companions are warmly welcome with us in any season. The fee for accommodating one dog is €9.00 per night. Simply tick the box indicating you are bringing a pet directly in our booking form.
7. Is the guest house suitable for families with children, and what facilities do you offer?
Penzión Horal is an ideal destination for families. A fenced public playground directly adjoins our garden and summer terrace, providing a safe space for children to play. Children under 3 stay with us free of charge. If you need to warm up baby food outside regular meal times, we are more than happy to assist you.
8. Where can I park my car, and do you have storage for bicycles/skis?
Parking is provided for all guests in our private, camera-monitored parking lot directly at the property and is completely FREE of charge. For cyclists and skiers, we offer a secure, lockable room where you can safely store your bicycles, ski equipment, strollers, or sleds without worry.
9. What amenities are included in the room (towels, toiletries, fridge)?
Fresh towels and crisp bed linen are prepared for every guest in their room. Basic toiletries (soap, toilet paper) are included as a matter of course. Rooms feature a private bathroom, TV, and free Wi-Fi.
10. What should I do if the calendar shows fully booked, or if I am looking for accommodation for a larger group in privacy?
Room availability changes dynamically due to cancellations. If you see a fully booked date, please call us directly at +421 902 660 653.
